Common dimensions include 4 × 0.75 × 0.25″ / 102 × 19 × 6.4 mm, 3.5 × 1.5 × 0.25″ / 89 × 38 × 6.4 mm, and 8 × 1.5 × 0.25″ / 203 × 38 × 6.4 mm. To use, simply align the pipe ends, secure a chain or cage clamp, and insert the spacing wedge to achieve the desired gap. When using Mathey Dearman clamps, spacing wedges enable better fit-up of pipe ends. Wedges are used to create precise weld gaps and display in imperial measurement.
Simply move the pipe ends together, mount and tighten a chain clamp or cage clamp around the pipe and spread the gap to the desired width using the spacing wedge.
The wedge portion of the spacing wedge is case hardened for long life, while the upper part of the wedge is soft enough to prevent splintering.
